John Harbison Concerts at Tanglewood
The Tanglewood Music Center (TMC) is the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer academy for advanced musical study. Young professional-level musicians of exceptional ability, while on full fellowships that cover the costs of room, board, and tuition, work closely with members of the BSO and renowned guest artists, performing some 40 concerts each season.
On July 1st, his String Quartet No. 4 was performed in honor of the composer's 80th birthday.
On July 2nd, Harbison conducted the Tanglewood Music Center Instrumental Fellows and Vocal Fellows through Cantata No. 159, "Sehet, wir gehn hinauf gen Jerusalem," Cantata No. 105, "Herr, gehe nicht ins Gericht," Cantata No. 58, "Ach Gott, wie manches Herzeleid [II]," and Cantata No. 109, "Ich glaube, lieber Herr".
